Great guide with a lot of useful information for planning a safari trip to Serengeti. Starts out with history, topography, geology. Moves into trip planning and where to stay. Then moves into specific places to see with recommended routes and best season to visit.Also lots of good information on plants and animals, including pictures and descriptions.The author suggests that just about any time of year is good for animal viewing, including the wet season. Of course, migration patterns need to be considered always (depending on what you want to see), and transportation can be more difficult with muddy roads during the peak wet season. This is a bit different from what you might hear from less experienced people, who might suggest there's no point at all in visiting during the wet season. So I get the feeling this author provides a more reasonable characterization of the area at different times of year than you might find with other self-proclaimed experts.I'm using it for an upcoming trip to Kenya and Tanzania, and I will likely take this book with me.

This book has it all! So many colored pictures, lots of descriptions, maps, history, everything you need to know! The pictures and descriptions of the plants, birds and animals makes this book great! Everything else is a wonderful bonus! I haven't yet put the book to the test but when I return I will add another review!
