The story started a little slow but picked up as it went on. Definitely for younger readers and not that long of a read. Builds on the last story which had a little better plot than this one but still worth the read if you liked the first book.

Too much "Harry Potter" kind of stuff. Requires too great,suspension of disbelief. Not nearly up to the Hangman's Daughter series. I do not know to whom I might recommend this yarn.Oliver Potzsch is, nonetheless, an excellent writer.

I gave this a 4-star rating, just because I'm not so much into the "magical" aspect of the story. I love this author's depth in the historical aspects of his stories. I went onto Google Earth to look at the places he referenced and looked into the history of those places. It's stories like his that make me interested enough to look further into the history of what he writes about.

Oliver P. Writes great books, wonderful imafry, excellent characters, great dialogue. Thus book is no exception. A winderful addition to the Black Musketeers series, and I hope the next book is published soon.

I LOVE any books by Oliver Potzsch. He is absolutely my most favorite author. I love how he weaves actual historical facts into a wonderful, hard-to put-down book. The story is a great read and it always amazes me how he can create a very believable, thrilling, suspenseful story around fact. I only wish I could send him a personal note telling him how much I enjoy his work! Thanks Oliver!

I love this author. If you are in the mood for knights in shining armor combined with a dash of magic and a damsel in distress you will like this book.

I'm a big Oliver Poetsch fan. His Hangman daughter series is fantastic. I enjoyed the Black Musketeers and the Sword of Power was okay. I think this one suffered a little in translation and also trying to appeal to a broader audience.

This is well-written young-adult fiction. The context is engaging. This is a good fun-read for adults as well. It is worth the time spent.

I have been a fan of Louis L'amour for many years now. When I came across this collection of short stories by him, I thought I would read them. Now one thing about Louis L'amour stories is that sometimes you will have read a book that was originally a short story not knowing it started life as a short story and then come across the short story in a collection of short stories and go what the heck. But that is what I like about them you get a chance to the original idea he had for the story. Like. I said I am a fan of Louis L'amour and I enjoyed reading some old stories by an old favorite. These are stories worth reading again and again.

I have read many, many of L'Amour's books but I think his short stories are the best. You can get in and out quickly and, sometime with his longer books, they tend to be formulaic. So, anytime I can get a book of his short stories, I grab them and read them over and over again. They're like old friends.

I love L'Amour stories and I think I like the short stories best. They are so crisp,sharp, right to the point but complete. These are all terrific short stories. I've read them often but still enjoy them. L'Amour is a treasure.

I have always been a fan of Louis L'Amour and enjoyed this book of short stories. I haven't read anything by him in decades and was a little surprised by how much the world has changed since then. When I was a kid, the 'wild west' didn't seen that long ago and now it feels very far away. This was a nice interlude into the past and a completely different world of the 'cowboy way' of life.

If you are a Louie L`Amour fan you have probably already read these short stories. They are all good ones and any one who likes western stories will enjoy these. I don't know if these six stories have been grouped together before. If you have never read anything by Louie before I am sure these stories will make you want more.

I haven't read Louis L'Amour in years other than to re-read some of his books. I hadn't read these shorts but recognised some of his later books that stretched these stories out. It was like old times when I could a read Louis L'Amour for the first time.

Back in the fifties, the formula was the good guy got the girl in the end (actually it's still the formula). Louis L'Amour book is faithful to that formula. While woman were not well developed, in the fifties that's the way stories read. Enjoyed it.

Savy's ability to compassionately write about people in the minority, people with disability, and generally people who don't fit the status-quo or are underprivileged, is a great gift, and one that will make her an inspired author in all her future endeavors. Savy is a true voice of the millennial generations of ambitious future leaders.Focusing on three very different young women, with vastly differing opinions on the fictional drug "Lipamorph", Sculpt Yourself addresses issues of body-image, what it means to be a "drug user", and most importantly what it means to have ownership of your body and what it means to be a feminist in the 21st-century. Though each woman in this story might have a different opinion, they all agree that rich white-male politicians/influencers shouldn't be making that decision for them.I read this book very quickly, I couldn't put it down! I also gifted a second copy to my sister for her 15th birthday, so far she is very impressed!

What I really liked about Sculpt Yourself was how unique it was, like it's sort of a thinking novel in a sense. I feel as each year passes by, our society becomes more and more consumed by beauty. What's the next step? How can I alter myself more to reflect the perfect version of myself?Whatever happened to being happy with the way your are and accept yourself for your flaws? Makeup is great. I love fun eye shadow, but now, even with makeup, it's gooped and plopped on with so much foundation. In this Texas heat it would melt right off! Plastic surgery? That's where things have gone too far, and it's not hard to believe that something like this in the book could happen one day.Sculpt Yourself has a great cast of characters. It was character driven and they felt real, like people I could know in real life. They all had their flaws, as we all do. Because no one is perfect and no one can be. Whoever came up with the idea of perfect is a moron. Besides thinking about things, there was a twist along the way that was nice! I kind of wished the book had been written in third person since it had three main POVs, but that's not a big deal. Overall, this book had great diversity, writing, snarkiness, emotion, and all kinds of things to think about, even after finishing! This is the second book I've read by the author that needs to be made into a movie!

Sculpt yourself gives off sorry to bother you vibes. It’s full of plenty of pop culture references to keep you pinned in current reality but with a twist.It’s very heavy handed with its commentary on contemporary beauty standards, daily stress of balancing a work and social life, handling of insecurities, obesity, eating disorders (binge eating), drug use etc.I’m a big fan of seeing the story told from three points of view, it gives a complete picture on the reality in the book; I also think it’s smart to have multiple POVs when it comes to a topic like body image because so many people deal with it in so many ways. It also helped create tension because (without giving away spoilers) you know about characters they choose to hide from others.It’s a low sci-fi (I think that’s the term), commentary piece. I enjoyed reading it. I like the authors YouTube videos on it. I recommend it.

The distinct voices of the three narrators in Sculpt Yourself are immediately engaging, carry diverse points of view, and all manage to coexist in a loving way. Such a refreshing look at how people can get along and support a greater cause despite differences in points of view. Sculpt yourself pulls the reader in from the first page with voice, then layers in important perspectives and issues society's been facing for a long, long time, but today seems to tackle with more vigor and persistence. This is a great pick for YA and up. Book clubs, you will have plenty to talk about! Sculpt Yourself is highly recommended!

This map is so large in space t has limited functionality. To use it for anything other than the most generic freeway map and you would need more detail, ((and even that is hard to see)

It is a map of Norway, just what we wanted. However, it is large and cumbersome and difficult to use. It is almost impossible to use the index without refolding the whole map, and the paper is thin. There has to be something more useful.

This was one of the first writing books I'd read (outside the textbooks for english classes). It was delightfully surprising, and gave me a renewed interest in writing again. The humor injected into 'Spunk and Bite' kept me addicted and wanting to read more--even though it is only a writing book. It gave me an understanding of what readers yearn for and why I've gotten tired of so many books--there's not much spunk or bite to the writing. Plotnik explores how to make dull and expected sentences something knew and surprising that will keep the mind more attentive and draw readers in for more. High recommend.

Like Strunk & White's The Elements of Style, Arthur Plotnik's Spunk & Bite is a must-have for every writer's desktop. This witty tome exudes panache as it delivers all the world-class writerly advice one could hope to acquire--in a fast-moving 253 pages (with handy detailed index at the back).Plotnik, noted author, long-time editor and award-winning Irish poet, wallops a homer with S & B. Consider a few of the subjects he spotlights with consummate verve: The Pleasures of Surprise, Words with Music and Sploosh, Enallage: A Fun Grammatical Get, and Writing for New Generations.Most books of writing advice are about as appetizing as day-old pablum. Spunk strives vigorously to avoid pablumocity--and succeeds. Plotnik doesn't just write about spunky and biting language; he illustrates it in his own writing. I bought this book because I've long-admired Plotnik's column in The Writer Magazine and have saved issues solely because I knew I'd want to revisit a particular piece of his. Spunk & Bite is best of all things Plotnik; broken down into easily digestible chapters and within each chapter he augments his points with entertaining sidebars. The book lends itself to daily visitation, it's almost like a little spiritual guide for writers -- yet, it's packed with practical nuggets.Someone once asked a famous writer if he thought they had what it takes to make it and the writer replied, "I don't know -- do you love words?" Arthur Plotnik loves words and in this book he challenges conventional wisdom, preserves appropriate sacred tenets and invents some tenets of his own. Spunk & Bite is the kind of book I see myself revisiting cover to cover at least once a year or to simply open up to a random spot when I need inspiration. There's not a wasted page anywhere; a long overdue manifesto for contemporary writing.

*Spunk & Bite* is for me a funky rhythm and jazz resource of techniques and suggestions for bringing writing alive. So much of my daily articles consist of actionless verbs (have, to be, are, would have, should have), with little no surprises or engaging fun for the reader. While I may write straight forward and complex sentences, my syntax and paragraphs simply tie one thought to the next. My writing (like this review) is nice, but not memorable or engaging.You might think in the first few chapters of his book that Plotnik is showing off with a bunch of had-to-look-them-up-in-the-dictonary words (though admittedly, reading the Kindle version of this book with the device's built-in dictionary will be useful to the average reader), that is not the case. Plotnik just happens to be an intelligent teacher of writing. *Spunk & Bite* would make a cut above perfect textbook for any advance writing class. For any writer has control of standard grammar and coherent writing might find this book a worthy next course for taking writing to its most engaging level.Nearly each page contains examples of how to use what is called *locutions, locutions, locutions* (my first introduction to the word)-- which means "to use a word, the turning of a phrase in some stylistic manner."He explains how to use elements of surprise, diction, narratives tense, mouthwatering verbs, color, hot nouns from verbs, ephemeral imagery, stellar leads and stunning endings, and much more to add punch and juice to your writing.If you've never used a thesaurus or specialized dictionary of words and lists, you'll see how and why as you read *Spunk*. Plotnik goes beyond the tired suggestion given to most writers: keep a thesaurus on your desk. No, he actually shows why and how word books can be useful.I finished reading the book in about three days, and I suggest you might get more out of it if you give it a brisk first read and then come back to it again and again as a resource. Yes, I guess it could also sit right beside your copy of Strunk and White *Elements of Style*, if you you indeed even have read it in years.I plan to work through the exercises at the end of the book just as way to review and practice the techniques he explains. For it is not just enough to read the book from cover-to-cover, but more importantly to practice what he preaches, argues, and demonstrates in each carefully crafted chapter.Here's a break down of what he covers. I got this book for myself to help me figure out what to do now that I'm "out," as well as to help me assist my peers in their respective coming out processes. I appreciate that the book covers a broad range of sexual orientations. It provides teens with a variety of options and suggestions on a plethora of topics, rather than trying to point teens in a specific direction. I feel that the book also helps give the reader a broader perspective on sexuality and relationships. The personal examples from the authors truly make the book come to life. They show the reader that everybody is human, and we all go through some tough times, but with the right attitude, and a proper approach, people will pull through.Sorry for getting a little philosophical there, I just wanted to share some of what makes this book so great. I have bought a couple of copies to give to friends who are going through a process of self-discovery. I would highly recommend this book to any teen, or the parent of any teen who is questioning their sexuality, or is out and not sure where to go from there.

I really like this book to use with teenagers who are questioning their sexual identity. It's written in language that is very teen friendly and non-threatening. Addresses a lot of questions that my clients had. Recommend! My clients liked it so much they went to check it out at the local library after reading my copy.

Bought this because my daughter requested it. She’s 14 and recently told us she is Bi-sexual. She wanted something to help her along her journey and said this book did just that. So thank you for writing something kids can turn to when they don’t want the advice of adults.

This is NOT a walkthrough or hint guide. This guide is 41 pages of useless info. It covers how to install the game, creating a character and what to when you level-up. All stuff you can easily figure out in the first couple minutes playing the game. All of this stuff is already covered by the in-game tutorials. There are no map, hints or walkthrough. It is too much hastle to return a $15.00 purchace. I will just throw this away.Buyer Beware.PS: there is no way to give a zero star rating. Please do not misread my one star as any sort of approval.

As reviewed by Knuckle Martin, this is a expensive fire starter. Unless you are comleatley unaware of how to download games from the internet, this is a waste of money. The first 20 pages of this 41 page "guide" is how to download the game for different platforms... This also is a black and white only guide, that looks like it was printed in 1998, seriously it's that grainy.Also the table of contents doesn't match the page numbers near the end of the book. I guess they were too busy beating an actual strategy guide to print to notice.My advice save your money or set fire to $15.00. Either is better then buying this guide.

For anyone who has played a dragon quest game, there is no information in this guide that you don’t already know. Avoid buying at all costs

I really wish I would've read the customer reviews before buying this. There is literally nothing useful in this guidebook. It is not a strategy or tip guide at all. Do not waste your money like I did.

Normally I would have ordered this from Amazon at the time I ordered it was out of stock and I wish it was out of stock everywhere so I could not have ordered this over priced 15$ with shipping at the time but still over priced if it was free this waste of paper included information that would in the little guide book that used to be included with most video games however the little guide book normally had some nice art and the basic game instructions this genuine waste of paper included information on how to install this on your system's trouble is if you have to get a guide on how to do such a simple task you won't get far on this game without a more comprehensive guide than this one most of the information in this guide is given in simple in game tutorials within the 1st hour the only reason this guide managed to sell more than one copy is because no official guide book is available in any language other than Japanese the funniest thing about this flimsy magazine (lets not lie like the company that made it and try to call it a book) is they bothered to copyright it as if anyone would plagiarize this garbage on a positive note they made the font size on these coloring book style sheets of paper large enough for a person with poor eye sight to read in an attempt to fill the pages I would not recommend this book as even a terrible gag gift I'm too irritated to even try to return the so I will use it to start the next fire in our woodstove this cold winter night.

The people that made this need to learn the difference between an owners manual and a strategy guide . Do not buy this , another company is going to release a real guide when the switch version of the game is released .

Read Vee's book if you want to rethink your understanding of mass literacy and computer coding. Vee weaves together parallel histories of writing and coding movements. She crafts new ways to talk about coding beyond its widely-held conflation with the Computer Sciences and mere software development. Additionally, she provides the first wave of conceptual tools to see programmers as writers, who bring their own idiosyncratic histories and values to a wide variety of coding contexts. Overall, Vee opens the door for others across the disciplines to widen their scope for what it means to code.

Read this book if you are in STEM and want to understand how digital humanities think about coding--or if you are on the humanities side, read this book to (re)think literacy and coding.

This text is a major contribution to the field of Writing Studies. Vee does the careful and difficult work of expanding what our notion of "writing" actually is. This has been influential in both my teaching and research, and I look forward to reading more studies that are inspired by the work Vee does here.

A clear, incisive argument about computer code as a type of literacy. An academic monograph meant for specialty audiences. Very convincing if you take the time to read it completely.

Vee's delineations of the shifting political, social, and rhetorical valences of "literacy" as a way of describing reading and writing serve as a enlightening way to apply it to newer modes of writing and reading like code. The book provides a very convincing argument that education initiatives should be at least considering how to promote and carry out coding literacy initiatives like and unlike established efforts surrounding existing notions of literacy as a public good and a lever of social and cultural mobility. Vee'e expertise as a rhetorician also provides a brilliant, and extremely clear, rundown of previous approaches to defining code as a mode of discourse. Vee is able to show how previous efforts to define code [e.g. through its executability in the tradition of J.L. Austin's concept of performativity], fall short in this or that way. As a non-coder/programmer, this section was essential because because it introduced me to the existing literature in the field, and held it up to contemporary work in rhetoric *and* code providing what I feel remains, after reading several books on the subject, the most convincing definition of code as a mode of discourse. In other words, Vee's *rhetorical* approach to defining code is the best on its own, and it provides a way to link it to traditional ways of reading and writing that allows us to comparatively examine code according to that established discourse. My interest in this is for the interpretation of traditional and coded poetics, but the potential range of applications are far broader.

We read this for my graduate seminar in digital rhetoric, and I learned a lot about the history of computing and the gendered issues surrounding it. Putting coding stuff into literacy terms was really helpful for us, since in my department we only recently got someone doing digital rhetoric and none of us are at all trained in the technical side of things

Elegantly and efficiently crafted, Vee’s book synthesizes several complimentary topics. It begins with a detailed and timely rhetorical look at the wide-ranging media attention to things like "computer literacy." This is followed by an astonishingly complete, accessible, and insightful overview of literacy studies as a scholarly field. Vee then guides readers through not just the history of computers and coding, but the concomitant representation of that work in professional journals and discourse. This leads to an interview-driven investigation of present-day practices by programmers and communities of coders. I came to this book out of my interests in teaching and literacy studies, and found my views much enriched by the encounter. One can't help but come away from this book with a better understanding of the rise of computing and the cultural debate around the importance of code, coding, and learning how to code.
