He's been so consistent and stable in his work and I've learned alot. He has inspired me to get my Bachelor and Masters Degree in social work. My specialty is working with famlies and children. More recently, Myles has inspired me to start my own business. Although, I wanted more of him here in the physical world God knows best. Myles said," its not the person that draws people but his gifts". I had the pleasure of meeting Myles in 2002 at a church in my home town. I bought,The power of Prayer, an awesome book and got his autogragh. Yeah! Myles has left us with plenty of his gifts to carry on the vision. Among his more obvious gags, Wallace also inserts references and items aimed squarely at adults, which will assuredly be lost on young readers. Grade 1-5–Edwards uses a variety of idioms as a jumping-off point for a collection of elaborate, imaginative illustrations. An alligator, for example, "eats her words" by sweeping books off a shelf directly into her mouth. There's great variety in the watercolor, pencil, and gouache drawings, along with understated humor. The animal characters have human names and subtly amusing facial expressions that fit the silly situations just right. Closer perusal always reveals a bit more. It's obvious that the well-dressed "bull in a china shop" will soon destroy a couple of fine pieces with his horns. Sharp-eyed viewers will spot other dangers presaged by the poor fellow's misplaced cane, wrapping tail, and untied shoelace. For further diversion, at least one monkey is hidden in each full-page picture. In some cases, the relationship between idiom and illustration works very neatly. Quentin the penguin literally "rises to the occasion" when he is catapulted high enough to serve drinks to a giraffe bride and groom. The visual scene is funny, but at the same time actually conveys the sense of the idiom, since the penguin has found a creative way to meet a challenge. Other times, the illustrations have a less direct tie to the meaning of the phrase, but still work as humorous pieces. One of the most original and droll presentations of idioms you will ever find. The detailed illustrations are beautiful and very, very funny. Mr. Edwards invites interaction by hiding a monkey within each one so that even though a toddler may not appreciate the sophisticated humor of the picture, he can still enjoy what he sees while searching for (and usually finding) the monkey. All ages will love this book. Wallace Edwards is a master illustrator.

This is a great book to use for teaching Idioms!! Looking forward to using it with reading students. Great book.

I teach children with Asperger's Syndrome (high-functioning autism) who can be very literal. This book is beautifully illustrated and helps the children learn about odd expressions (idioms) in a fun way. Highly recommended for any age.

The story is wonderful and the illustrations are perfect. My Grand daughter loves it. It was recommended to me by a friend.

This book has fabulous artwork and the idioms are a lot of fun. The info says it is for a reading level of 4-8 year olds but I would say it is probably too challenging for some 7 year olds to read on their own.

This book is a beautiful piece of art work. They are everyday idioms and the illustrations that go with them make them very visual. i kept this book for my grandchildren and have ordered one for a friend of mine.

If you enjoy idioms and great illustrations as a teaching tool, then Wallace Edwards is the source. This book and his next book "The Cat's Pajamas" are both wonderful. I would love to see him do a third book as well. You won't easily forget these sayings - like 'on the ball' or 'rising to the occasion'.Just wish I could have found this in hardcover.

A little to much on the technical side. I was asked to be my son's business manager.His bid fail to take in a profit margin. He considers his hours and labor as his profitrather than an expense to the business. I hoped to be able to gain enough knowledgeto help him be profitable but fair.

This book was not any help. It doesn't lay out how to do anything. A waste of money. You are much better off getting Markup & Profit.

We used this Michelin map during a two-week trip to Andalucia that covered Malaga, Ronda, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Cordoba, and Granada. It is a very large, detailed map, and it was quite satisfactory not only for getting us from one city to another, but also for finding a destination on a minor road (Cueva de la Pileta, near Ronda). Some highway numbers have been changed since this map edition (e.g. A376 between Marbella and Ronda is now A397.) I give the map a "4" rating for it's highway maps, which it it's main intended function, but it gets only a "1" for its city maps.This Michelin map includes only three city maps, namely Sevilla, Granada, and Malaga, and like the maps in typical guidebooks (e.g. the Rough Guide to Andalucia), the city maps show only the old city sections that are of most interest to tourists. We experienced a lot of wasted time and frustration trying to find our hotels in Cordoba, Granada and Malaga, for one or more of these reasons: (1) Our maps did not show how to get from the main highway to the old part of town; (2) most city intersections did not have street name signs; (3) many streets were one-way only, and this was not shown on our maps; (4) some "streets" on the maps were open to pedistrian trafic only; (5) some streets or intersections were closed due to construction, and our maps were not adequate to show alternate routes. To its credit, for its three city maps Michelin does show traffic dirction arrows for some of the streets, but on the other hand, most of the streets are shown without name labels! Maybe the Michelin map-makers thought that there was no point in naming the streets, since travelers probably won't be able to find street name signs, anyway. The bottom line is, the next time I go to Spain I'll try to get detailed driving instructions to the hotels ahead of time, and I'll allow at least an extra hour of driving time to find the hotel once I get to the city, in case the instructions are not clear (which is usually the case).

This map is very detailed with clear differentiation between types of roads. It contains a helpful table of travel times and distances between major cities and street maps of Sevilla, Granada, and Malaga. Its disadvantages are an awkward folding scheme and a somewhat light weight paper.

The map is very detailed for the region view. However, the only cities that have individual maps are Malaga, Sevilla and Granada. Other cities have red lines around them like there should be city maps for those, such as Cordoba, Jaen and Gibraltar. But no maps. The whole back side of the map is blank. I'm wondering if those cities should have been printed there, and this is just a bad "batch?" I also agree that the paper it is printed on is a thin.

I will never buy this map again: it is huge, thin paper, you can never fold it back properly again. It is just waaaay too big: too big if you walk, too big if you drive. And besides these two what else can you use it for?.. No, thanks.

Great map for long distance drives, route numbers and kilometre markers really helped. Only problem was leaving the highways and getting into the towns, there is NO information on how to get from the main road to the city center

Chapter 1: I Need My Cap   My cap has a Speed Accelerator button. Should I push it? Mom hates when flames shoot out of my shoes. Even pretend ones. Clint McCool doesn’t need those rocket engines, anyway. I have fast feet.   Varrrrooooom! I fly down the stairs!   Varrrrooooom! I rush outside!   Oh no. Turtles are on the sidewalk!   Screeeech! I put on the brakes.   Hmm. Can I run on top of their shells? Nope. These aren’t real turtles. They’re kids with big backpacks. They walk so slow. Did they forget? Today Sol-Ray Man is coming to our school!   Sol-Ray Man is the most super superhero ever. He uses the sun’s rays to power up. He zooms to the disaster. He activates his light beams. He saves the planet three times in every episode. And today he’s going to tell me how.   I zigzag around the turtles.   “Wait for me, Walter!” Mom yells. That’s right. She called me Walter. She named me Walter after my grandpa. What a disaster! Luckily, I knew what to do. I named myself. Clint McCool.   “Hi, Clint McCool!” Marco shouts. He’s at the corner with his mom.   I run up to him. He’s the best Best Friend ever. He always calls me by my real name. He’s supersmart. He made the buttons that control my powers. He tied each one to my cap. They help me save the day. That happens more than you’d think.   “Let’s go, Marco! Sol-Ray Man is coming today!” I say.   “I know. Look what I made.” Marco shows me his arms. He has special bands on his wrists. Each band has three shiny panels.   “Wow!” I say.   “XL7 Ray Benders,” Marco says. “Sol-Ray Man uses them. They direct his beams.”   “They zap around corners. Zap over buildings,” I say. “Zap past his archenemy Eclipse. So he can’t block Sol- Ray Man’s light,” I say. “Let me see them work.”   Marco doesn’t take them off. He moves his arm. Light zaps off the panels.   “Can I wear them?” I ask. “I need to show Sol-Ray Man I’m a superhero, too. I don’t want him to think I’m just a kid.”   “But, Clint McCool, you are a kid,” Marco says.   I sigh. I know. Real life is so boring. Except when we can have an escapade. Or when my friend makes cool stuff that he should share. “Please, Marco?”   “You have your cap,” Marco says. “I can’t wear my cap in school.”   Our teacher, Ms. Apple, always locks it in her desk. That’s a mistake. I need the cap. It helps me focus. Then I can control my powers. Ms. Apple doesn’t understand that. She’s a grown-up.   “I probably can’t wear these, either,” Marco says.   Marco’s right. School means rules. “Too bad we can’t zap around the rules.”   Then . . . Zing, zong, zing. Brain flash! “I don’t need my cap. I don’t need all my powers—just one. And one button.”   Hmmm. Which one should I choose? Invisibility? Idea Generator? Speed Accelerator? That’s the one. Then I can race Sol-Ray Man around the auditorium.   I tug at the Speed Accelerator button. “Help me get it off.”   Marco twists.   I yank. “Why did you tie it so tight?” I say.   “So you wouldn’t lose it,” Marco says.   “What are you guys doing?” M.L. comes over to us. She’s our best friend, too. She can walk on her hands. For real. She doesn’t even have to cheat.   “Tug of war? I can beat you both,” M.L. says.   She could do it, too. William A. Schabas, Professor of International Law, Middlesex University in LondonWilliam A. Schabas is professor of international law at Middlesex University in London. He is also professor of international human law and human rights at Leiden University, distinguished visiting faculty at Sciences Po in Paris, and honorary chairman of the Irish Centre for Human Rights. Professor Schabas holds BA and MA degrees in history from the University of Toronto and LLB, LLM and LLD degrees from the University of Montreal, as well as several honorary doctorates. I met co-author Carey Jones at a party a couple of months ago and was so impressed by her that I ran home and pre-ordered this book. It really doesn't disappoint. Not only are the recipes terrific, the book is really well organized, including a flow-chart at the beginning that can recommend a particular recipe for you based on how you're feeling. Highly recommend both for cocktail newbies and more experienced drinkers looking for something tasty, interesting and new.

I wanted a book to help me making a bit more challenging drinks than mixing whiskey with coke. This book is really nice. It explains everything including the basics. You will be making your own syrups and infused liquor in no time! I really enjoyed browsing the book or using the flowcharts to find a new drink to try. Recommended.

A fun read and a good tool for people really interested in mixing drinks at home. This book has plenty of recipes above and beyond the ones that appear in every drinks recipe book, but be advised that they also ask for a lot of ingredients that aren't commonly found. If you're interested in mixing your own syrups and components, you can expand your repertoire a lot.

They tell us about unconscious biases that we may have that are inconsistent with our conscious thoughts and ideals.An example of the authors thoughtfulness can be reflected in their use of different colours to label the various types of lies (white, grey, invisible, blue, red, etc) that we often tell, often without being fully conscious of what we are doing. The presentation is vivid, and the ideas easy to commit to memory.I also find the authors' Implicit Association Test (IAT) to be a rather ingenious device to reflect unconscious associations or biases. As I read from a Kindle edition, I find it rather too tedious to try to produce hard copies of the tests to try out. Instead, I went online to take a couple of the tests. With the hard copies, the authors have emphasised that someone taking the test may opt to start first with the either sheet A or B. That is not possible with the online test. Because I am already in my 60s, I find that my mind has considerable difficulty adjusting to switching from the left column to the right (and vice versa) as I progressed from part 1 to part 7 of the online test. As the test relies on measures of the speed and accuracy in which the subject takes the test, I cannot help but wonder if the difficulty that I have experienced in switching time and again between left and right may not have contributed significantly, but erroneously, to what the test attempts to measure. Perhaps the test procedures can be refined to cater for such possible errors. As it stands, I think the IAT Is best taken as a good reflection of unconscious biases, instead of an accurate measure of such.A final comment is that while the authors have done an excellent job in detailing various unconscious biases, they have made less headway in coming up with solutions. I find the few solutions discussed in the book to be much less insightful, or impressive.

Very good explanations and easy to understand. I am one of the 75% of white Americans with a strong preference for white despite my egalitarian views. I wish everyone who says there is no racism in America would read this book. Unfortunately the authors cannot as yet offer a way to counteract our implicit biases. I hope that just knowing of my biases will help me to act more like what I so strongly profess. And it worries me about so many people and family members who are not even aware of their own obvious racism.

while the writing style is relaxed, almost breezy, the material definitely is not. This book is not fun to read- but to my mind, an important one.The book is well-researched and the writing keeps the jargon to a minimum... but the questions it raised about what I believe, about myself and others, will be resonating for a long while.Overwhelmingly recommended- but be prepared to be uncomfortable

An eyeopening introduction to "Implicit Associations" aka biases that we might be totally unaware of, because our intellect believes that we don't have them. Do I believe intellectually that a woman can do an as good as or even better job as a CEO, or even the POTUS, than a man? Definitely! But, after taking a few of the tests, I didn't have to take the gender test to know that I'd flunk and put women to work in their homes, because that's the way I was raised, and that's my primary and hidden bias.I now have an explanation for feeling more "comfortable" with male bosses over the years, despite being a feminist.The racial bias test was was even more challenging intellectually. Unlike the authors, I didn't "flunk" it (meaning I don't share the "white" bias of 75% of the test takers, including many people of color). But, how do I reconcile the fact that I have a more positive association to people who do not share my European ancestry? I was actually born in Germany after WWII to German parents who had a pronounced preference for their own kind. I suspect that's the reason for my apparent contrariness, but after reading about the authors' shock at their results, I was definitely concerned that I might also flunk the test, despite my intellectual view on the subject. Along with the relief of "passing" the test came the next question...so, why don't I like my own race...myself?No, this book doesn't give in-depth explanations for ways to combat test results that don't fit with your intellectual self-image, but it definitely makes you aware that what you think and believe about yourself doesn't necessarily match how you feel innately, and those innate feelings do influence your behavior, despite your belief to the contrary.

This book discusses implicit biases every person holds. It forthrightly covers several areas of potential bias, showing through extensive research how almost everyone is affected in some way by their biases. It helped me to understand the underlying basis for many of our social problems. Written in a conversational style, the research results can be understood by an average person. Any "jargon" gets explained.

Solid read, we would all be better off if we had a deeper understanding of our own prejudices and the role they play in our everyday lives. Follow up with the Project Implicit website for sure!

I enjoyed reading Blindspot. This is an easy read with academically supported findings that I needed to supplement my students' study of bias and how our perceptions impact how we see, hear, and experience the world.

A fully academic read for the common person who has no statistical background. This work shows us all where our blind spots are with awareness the first step in the resolution. A good read for all.
