I bought the kindle version of this book, and liked it so much that I ordered the paperback version.I was pleasantly surprised by the large, clear format of the book.It's so much nicer than reading it on a phone or tablet.Worth the money if you're looking for rhythmic ideas in any style.An excellent resource.I would love to see a newer version with the more recent rhythm styles, such as trance, dubstep, etc.Thanks!~Walt
If you’re interested in learning how to program trap drums or any genre that consistently uses drum patterns instead of live drums... this will not explain that at all. It will give you a basic framework of rhythm and patterns in a suggested overall way.
An awesome starting point for drum tracks for the non drummer. I use the patterns to program the drum machines in propellerheads reason and then I modify the grooves and add loops, this book really made my drum parts more interesting.
This is a handy reference book for programming in ready made drum patterns via a matrix display. If you are beginning to make beats and are using a Roland TR-707 (or similar machine) there are quite a few styles covered.
Good book. Lots of selections for different types of music. No problem entering these into the step sequencer on my Roland JD-Xi.
This book is great. At first the patterns seem cheesy, but once you put modern drum sounds and effects you can get great results. Consider this a tool not a loop generator
If you have a physical drum machine or sampler with a step sequencer, this is for you. It has various patterns, fills, and breaks. Though some of the patterns may not be your cup of tea, but at the least they provide an excellent new way to look a things when programming your machine.This book is a great learning tool or refresher that lets you away from your computer screen for once.
This works really well with a step sequencer like fruity loops. It's kind of like a color by numbers for beat making.
