This was a great resource for learning a ton of new flower designs. This has plenty of flowers to choose from. It does not include step-by-step designs, but I knew that going in. This is excellent for giving a budding artist (like me) the basic lines to review and reproduce.

Filled with good illustrations of flowers. The illustrations are shown with dot shading to give the flowers dimension.

What's on the cover is what's inside, or get a better peek at the Kindle sample. I'm reviewing the book only (which is what the product listing is for) as I found that most of the old stuff sold by Dover that includes a CD has low quality scans. I can do them better myself and unless it's Dover Pictura which has vector files I suggest you do the same.That said the line drawings in this book are very good. The shading is provided mostly by little dots which you can either ignore or edit out with inexpensive or free image editing programs. If you want the actual shape of the flower as a starting point this is the book to get. I would have liked a few more flowers but it's got a decent selection (just try finding renderings of hydrangeas:) If you paint, decorate, make your own embroidery or beading patterns or apparently some things I've never dreamed of, this is a great design source to have in your library.

I use this book frequently for adding floral graphics to my handmade cards. I have also liked the Floral Designs and Motifs book (Dover Pictorial Archive) for the same purpose. The designs in this Treasury of Flowers are very clear and easy to copy with pen and ink or ink and watercolor or colored pencil to add a special touch to your message. I would definitely recommend this book.

I love flowers. Unfortunately I can't grow them (I have a black thumb instead of a green one!) so they are difficult for me to study. This book has a nice selection of different types of flowers, and the art style is both very simple and lovely. For me, it's not difficult to learn from the designs. If you're a new artist, this might not be the best book for you; there are no step by step illustrations. Overall, really happy with it!

Good examples of designs with a good variety. Using these as sketch practice and stippling practice. Works well for my need.

Not much detail in the sketches. Good outlines. That is about it. Definitely not the best book if you are wanting to sketch from it. Probably would be awesome for fabric projects.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for good flower designs for arts and crafts,I will use it to develop abstracts and watercolors.

A decent book with basic information.

When my husband bought How to Take Care of Your Parrot, I was wondering if he forgot the other books we got at the pet store chain about our parrot. We got 2 books from there which seemed to be NOT about parrots in spite of the titles but generic bird books with a few pictures about parrots and the word parrot thrown in... in other words, they seem to be books that are written for taking care of any bird and they modify them as little as possible to sell them to parrot owners. (Dog book publishers often do this too. They basically just have to write one book that way, change the cover and a few words, and they then have a "different" book for every breed! It's outrageous.)Anyway, let me tell you that this book is the exception! First of all, Jenna Andersen knows and loves parrots and it's obvious! She is an expert at selecting them and taking care of them and having them as pets. We got a LOT of great information here and there is more we need to go back and re-read too. We especially appreciated the Parrot Parenting Tips that pop up at various times offering extra insights into the topic, whether the book is discussing the cage setup or food. This is an excellent book for any parrot owner.

If you are considering getting a parrot, you MUST read How to Take Care of Your Parrot before you get one. You will be FAR better prepared for life with these wonderful creatures. This book is the most comprehensive collection of parroting "parenting" we've ever run across. From getting one, to preparing your home, to training your parrot, this is the ultimate in information. We have had parrots for years and years and we thought we knew a lot about them but we didn't. One tip was brilliant and it never dawned on us before and that was the best time of day to train our parrots. This one simple change in our training reaped HUGE gains over what (and when) we were doing before. Oh, and the sleep section is CRITICAL for a happy parrot, make sure you focus on that. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

If you’re interested in learning how to program trap drums or any genre that consistently uses drum patterns instead of live drums... this will not explain that at all. It will give you a basic framework of rhythm and patterns in a suggested overall way.

An awesome starting point for drum tracks for the non drummer. I use the patterns to program the drum machines in propellerheads reason and then I modify the grooves and add loops, this book really made my drum parts more interesting.

This is a handy reference book for programming in ready made drum patterns via a matrix display. If you are beginning to make beats and are using a Roland TR-707 (or similar machine) there are quite a few styles covered.

This book is a perfect way to learn more about THE WANTED. It also includes all these incredible photos of boys. The book is separated with a chapter for each boy+ how the boys got together+ chapter about THE FANMILY. I recommend this book to anyone who loves the boys- a quick and interesting read. =]

Got my TW Our Story Our Way book in the mail a few days ago because I am a HUGE fan of the boys! Opened it up and couldn't put it down lol It was soo awesome to get to know the boys before the glam! And in their words, I could almost literally hear them talking! Too funny! If you are a TW fan you need this book! It's a MUST have for any and all TW fans!!

I ordered this book about a month ago, and just received it. I finished the book within 2 hours, because I couldn't put it down. It tells the story of the band before all the platinum singles and sold out concerts, and you really get to know the boys. You get to know each of them from childhood to present day. I also think that it was well written and the pictures were fantastic. I suggest any TW fan to buy it and read it!

This was definitly a great buy for me, I adore The Wanted and this book does a great job of telling their story. As well as giving us some great photos of the guys! :)

I had been looking for a book such as this for a long time. While the paramedic field guides are useful for a 1st year medic, they quickly loose their value once the new medic becomes proficent. However, the EMS Medication Field Guide is useful to quickly determine most every prescription a PT could have and it's general effects. It is a valuable tool for the OD PTs. I strongly recommend this book and have given it as a gift for a medic student.

The EMS Medication Pocket Field Guide by Dillman is a monster in comparison to the LaSage ALS EMS Field Guide. It's nearly twice as thick and a touch wider (7/8" thick x 3 1/4" wide x 6 1/4" (including spiral which is 1 3/16" diameter) vs. LaSage at (<7/16 thick x 3 wide x 5 5/8" tall). Dillman's is too big to make it into my uniform shirt pocket where the LaSage fits acceptably. However, it has listings for roughly twice the prescription meds (~3400 vs. 1600) and a much heavier focus on toxicology. Half of the guide (113 of 207 pages) is devoted to the prescription meds, and it is in the same style as LaSage except that there is no mention of generic names in the trade name listings, and vice-versa. About 60 pages are devoted to description of the different drug classes. There's a nice pharmacological differentials section that lists potential pharmacological causes for different SxS, as well as other perks such as a slightly more thorough lab value section. This makes a great supplement to LaSage. Contrary to what you might guess from the title, there's no generic formulary section (which in my opinion is good given the supplementary role that this guide fills). They put some time into creating this, and it was a worthwhile purchase. Hopefully in future versions they will make it more compact, taking out a lot of the unused white space, and do little things such as round the corners, improve the indexing some, and add cross referencing between trade and generic names, all of which I'd be willing to pay a touch more for. In summary, if you are at all frustrated by the incompleteness of the drug listings or the lack of toxicology in LaSage, Dillman's is a valuable guide.

I am an EMT (soon to be medic) who just started working on the night shift a couple months ago. It was an eye opener to get call after call for overdoses and to see the variety of drugs used. This guide helped me in determining which drugs could cause potential damage and at what doses. About half of the guide is a large list of prescription meds and there drug class. Next is a section explaining different drug classes (corticosteroids, benzos, narcotics, and so on). In these sections it gives a list of drugs that fit in the class, the effects of an overdose on that drugs, the toxicology, and what signs and symptoms might be present in a person who overdosed on that drug. The next section is "Clinical Differentials". It starts with the signs and symptoms and helps you identify what drugs are capable of causing the symptom. The guide also gives minimum lethal dosages of many drugs (for a 150 lb. person). It explains the dangers and lethal dosages of various abused substances. It has a list of antidotes to certain substances. That is just the basics of this guide and there is a lot more. I am very happy with the buy and got a lot more than I was expecting. My only worry is that it is going to get worn out very quickly sitting in pocket for 12 hour shifts. Still highly recommended.

When searching for a good teaching tool/reference for first time home buying, the list of publications can be endless and confusing. This one book will lead you step by step through each of the processes involved. Having NO PRIOR HOME BUYING KNOWLEDGE, I eagerly opened this book with highlighter in hand, reading cover to cover on all topics from finding an honest agent to buying fixer-uppers, researching mortgages, neighborhoods, etc., even whether you should consider renting vs. buyng, and all the little details in between. You will learn things you never knew before, and I found myself constantly referring to many chapters throughout our experience in searching for a home. I recommend this book to anyone seeking stratightforward and easy to understand info, no fancy jargon to cut through, just plain language writing on a very in depth subject. The book's lay out is reader-friendly as well, making it very simple to locate exactly the subject you need. Don't pass this one up!

I bought this book a few days after deciding I would start saving to purchase my first home. The information they provide is very easy to understand and they have some great tips. Due to the housing markets changes over the past 3 years the book is a little out of date by mentioning no down payment mortgages and a few other things but this book is from 2009 I look forward to the newest version in a few months.It did help me understand ARM vs Fixed rate loans and all the paperwork and information that will need to be provided when applying for a mortgage. I really enjoyed reading this and it didn't feel like homework like some of these types of books do.

I read this book from cover to cover before buying my first home last year. The information is invaluable, especially the section on how to find a sound realtor (I did, and she was able to negotiate a good price for me) and how not to buy more house than you should. The author also tells you what to look for in a house and alerts you to pitfalls that the first-time home buyer might be completely unaware of, and walks you through how to obtain a mortgage and the various steps involved in bidding on a house and closing the deal.This is a must-read for someone who has never bought a home (be it a house or a condo) before and is immensely educational and helpful.Highly recommended!

This book felt like a great resource as we read through it pre-purchase, but, as the process began to solidify, we were disappointed to find that rules and laws vary so much state to state that our information was either erroneous, not fully explained, or unrealistic. We just bought our first home (in Texas, so you have an idea of what area is completely inapplicable to the book) and could not find one real estate agent who even knew what an activity list was, let alone maintained one. We had a long list of questions for the sellers, but maybe 5 of the 50 were answered at all, let alone to our satisfaction. Granted, the books says "walk away" from things like this, but, when pressed into a homebuying timeline due to job relocation, who has the luxury of waiting? It is a great resource for those that have the time for a few dozen "walk aways," but, for the rest of us, it will be of little use. (Although, I use it now to remind me to kick myself when I find yet another thing that did not go according to plan.) Our first home purchase went surprisingly smooth and we love our new house, but I found little of that can be blamed on good content of this book.

My wife and I purchased this book to help us in our hunt for our first home. We were total novices about the entire home buying process since we had always been apartment dwellers. I read through the book several times over the course of a month. The book armed me with good questions to ask my realtor and the seller's agent as well. It was particularly invaluable when addressing mortgage loans and funding alternatives.48 hours from now my wife and I will close on our first home. This book gave us confidence in our decision making by helping us evaluate a wide variety of criteria we would not have otherwise thought of. The peace of mind this book gave is worth many times more than we spent for it.If you are buying a home as a novice, you simply MUST purchase this book. Even if you are a veteran home buyer, I really believe this book will have value for you as well.
